Issues with Charging
This was a Christmas present from my husband. I was able to charge it once, but then it either froze (as someone else has said) or lost its charge. I've tried almost every outlet in the house, to no effect. I'm most disappointed; all the more so now that I can see how much he spent! Please do reach out to me so I can get this issue addressed.

Wondering if I should've listened to the 1-3 star reviews…
I really loved the idea of this gift for my husband and it was awesome for the first couple months. Unfortunately, it started to glitch out and would freeze. Unplugging it would be the only way to fix it. But it would take a few days to reset since it would have to run out of battery first. I was hoping it was just a fluke, but then it kept happening every few weeks. Since purchasing in December 2025, it's frozen 7 times. You can see in the attached photos, the clock is showing the same time throughout a 15 hour period (but it's been frozen on this time for a week now).

Broke after 1 week; replacement clock also broke immediately
After about the first week, the clock started freezing on a quote or the words would be scrambled. You have to stick a pin on the reset button in the back to refresh it. But then it froze again the next day. I contacted the manufacturer who said "We have discovered that a small number of Author Clocks have an issue with the quote chip, and the software team is working on a solution currently so that users can fix these with a downloadable program. This is our top priority, and we're sorry that your Author Clock is one of the affected devices." I downloaded an update and it did not fix the problem. The company sent me a new clock and that one is also defective and freezes at least once daily.

She loved it!
I had my eye on this clock for my sister. I debated and debated and finally bought it for her birthday. My sister is the school librarian at the local high school and an avid reader. She took it to work and put it on her desk. She is enjoying it and the kids are fascinated with it. Great gift for the reader/writer in your life.

I would hesitate to buy this product again. Not worth price
We had to return the first one since it would not charge. The second device is slow & somewhat counter intuitive to operate & does not hold a charge for more than 3 days. Needs a lot of improvements, but the minute quotes are great.

Oh, man! What an awesome gadget!
This thing is wonderful, mesmerizing, and a ton of fun! I gave it as a gift to my wife (an avid reader) and she immediately fell in love with it. It now sits on our mantle and as we pass by we MUST check the time! Sometimes, we stop what we are doing and just stand there watching it. When company comes, it waits for them to notice, they don't understand what it is at first. Then the delight comes as they read the passages. What a conversation piece! And, btw, it arrived in very good packaging, no damage at all during shipping. So far, every single person who has seen this thing has fallen in love with it!

Great Gift!
My wife was saw excited when she received this. Little did I know that she had been wanting this for a while, so kudos to me 🤣. What's great is that it is rechargeable, so it doesn't have to be plugged into one spot all the time. She is an English teacher and has it sitting on her desk in her classroom. She takes pictures when the time changes to send to her colleagues. My only criticism is that it is smaller than I thought it would be. I probably would have purchased the larger one had I known.

It's cute, but is buggy
It freezes every couple of days and needs to be reset. That's not ideal for a clock.
