The ultimate baby registry checklist

Everything you need for the first few years (plus some fun extras!).

Getting started

We consulted the experts (long-time parents!) to create a list of the most important things to put on your registry so you get the gifts you actually want and will use again and again. Consider this guide your starting point, and at any time, connect with a dedicated Registry Expert for even more inspiration and advice.

When should you start your registry? We recommend beginning around your 12th week of pregnancy so you have plenty of time to test strollers and design the perfect nursery. If you’re having a shower, be sure to add a link to your registry on the invite so it’s easy to find.

Ready to start adding items? Let’s go!

Clothing

Clothing

Your baby is likely to need multiple outfit changes per day, so it’s better to over-register here (and don’t forget to add a range of sizes from 0–12 months). In addition to them looking adorable, it’ll help cut down on the number of loads of laundry you’ll need to do each week!

What To Add:

  • 4–6 short-sleeve bodysuits
  • 4–6 long-sleeve bodysuits
  • 4–6 pajamas & footies
  • 1–2 jackets or snowsuits
  • 6–8 bottoms
  • 7–10 pairs of socks or booties
  • 3 sweaters
  • Take-me-home outfit
  • Special occasion outfit
  • Hats, headbands, and mittens
  • Hangers & drawer dividers
Nursery

Nursery

For friends and family who want to go in on a gift together, a crib or glider is a great addition to your registry. Sleep sacks make a great shower gift and are a must for keeping your baby cozy until they’re old enough to sleep with a blanket.

Strollers & Car Seats

Strollers & car seats

The right car seat and stroller is different for everyone, depending on factors like how much you travel and how many kids you have. That’s why it’s a good idea to check out and test-drive a few options in person before making a final decision. If you need help narrowing it down, our stroller and car seat guides are a good resource for comparing brands and styles.
