There's no string.

The texture was so good and the size was good that I was going to buy it, but I thought it was a cross-body, but I was disappointed because there was no string.

Nice accessory to larger bag and can use by itself

I use this fastened inside the System Zipper Tote as an extra compartment for essentials. I can take it out, attach it to the removable shoulder strap, and use it to go out to dinner. It’s small but big enoughnto hold my phone, glasses, and small wallet.
