GAURI KOHLI is a design house creating sculptural objects for the home in marble, onyx, travertine, brass, acacia wood, wool and cotton. Founded in 2012, it is named for its designer, Gauri Kohli, who directs every form, material and finish.

    Polished stainless steel in a warm champagne tone, drawn into three cheese knives - a broad flat spreader, a tapered leaf blade, and a two-tine fork, each finished to the same high mirror polish from handle to tip. The handles spiral in a faceted column shared across all three, each ending in a flat, even base. A plain round handle could not do this - each facet takes the light at its own angle, so a slow turn runs a single highlight up the spiral. Champagne sits between gold and steel and reads as neither, which keeps three mirror-polished knives from looking like flatware on a board.
