Intricate and alluring, Michael Aram's Black Orchid collection evokes nature at its best. Says the designer, "There is a velvety luxury - an almost gothic quality - to representing orchids in blackened nickel. To me, the pieces feel seductive and graceful, yet dark and unexpected."

  • Features

  • about the brand

During his first trip to Delhi, Michael Aram was so captivated by the rich tradition of craftsmanship and centuries-old metalworking techniques that he set up his own studio. More than 30 years later, over 200 local Indian artisans handcraft exquisite tableware, linens, and decorative objects for the home. Inspired by the natural world and drawing on the designer’s background as a painter, a sculptor, and an art historian, the brand’s striking creations pair delicate organic details with signature metalwork.

I just bought my second napkin holder for our 2nd home. It’s so pretty. It’s one of my favorite Michael Aram pieces.

Beautiful; but not practical

I own almost all of the black orchid collection. It is exquisite, gorgeous, and like all Michael Aram products, incredibly well made. That being said a standard sized napkin flops over the edges and it looks sloppy. It obstructs the beauty of the product which is a shame because it is truly stunning.

Artistry of Michael Aram

Recently remodeled our kitchen and added Michael Aram's iconic Black Orchid paper towel and napkin holder. I have collected Aram's pieces over the years expecially his frames which hold pictures of my two beautiful grandchildren.

Not the best holder

Beautiful but regular size napkins flop over. I returned it and bought the flat square napkin holder. It’s perfect.
