Stainless steel and natural wood, joined as a pair of salad servers - one fork, one spade - the heads mirror-polished and tapered at the shoulders, each running into a wood handle shaped to sit across the palm. The grain is visible and different on every pair. Two materials meet at the shoulder and neither is disguised - mirror steel runs to a hard edge, and the wood begins where the polish stops. That join is the only detail on the piece. Across a set no two handles carry the same grain, so a pair never quite matches itself.
