Shoulder strap broke and handles are peeling

I bought this bag a few years ago because I loved the timeless way it looked. Fast forward, I have rarely used it and kept it stored in doors for its entire life on a shelf. I pulled it out to use for a weekend trip and the hand straps were flaking fake brown leather everywhere. And then when I got to my destination, one of the plastic side pieces where the shoulder strap hooks on broke while I was carrying the bag. The strap flew up and hit me right next to my eye. Left a bruise and was lucky I had sunglasses on. Bag wasn’t heavy either, only carrying clothes for a weekend.

I purchased this for a graduation gift. My only negative is the white zipper really does not go well with the navy bag. The zipper should match and be navy.
