Frustrating for a frequent traveler
I have used this for about two years now, and while there are some great features (I like the colors, the adjustability, the programming fine), I'm just so fed up. The latest issue was that we are traveling for a full month, going to several different cities, and apparently there is a maximum number of wifi networks that can be saved within the Sound + Light app, which I figured out when I tried to join a new network and it popped up a little note. So of course, I went to try to get rid of some old saved networks, and even though there is a "Forget Network" next to each listed wifi network name, you can't actually select it to get rid of old networks. I tried to figure this out using the help options on nanit, and the only solution I came up with was to reset the Sound + Light... which of course wiped out all the routines I had spent so long perfecting. AND now I can't get the Sound + Light to connect to the current place's wifi!!! The nanit camera is working fine... which gets me to the other issues I have: why are there two separate apps?? Why is there no physical way to set a preferred routine without the app (if there is a connection issue, for example)? Why does the app to Sound + Light connectivity function differently than the Camera connectivity (obvious when you are doing the connection because of a weird "join Nanit_###" pop up that disconnects you from the wifi to do a non-bluetooth connection, I guess? Long-time but getting very fedup user.

Very Disappointed
Not impressed. Where to begin? 1) Super disappointed you can’t control this from the Nanit Home Display. So you get the Home Display tablet, but then you still need your phone to make any adjustments to Light & Sound, so no matter if you get the tablet, you still need your phone. We can’t adjust the sound and light machine without the phone, so we or our nanny need the phone and the tablet just to monitor a nap. And given the inconsistent starts of the programmed routines, we are frequently manually turning it on at least 7-10 times a week. Very inconvenient. 2) Programmed routines are hit or miss to start. I have since learned that you can’t have 2 routines scheduled back to back. For example, if you have wind down scheduled to end at 6:30 and then have bedtime programmed to start at 6:30, the bedtime just won’t start. You have to manually turn it on, which is super annoying if you have a sleepy baby in your arms. What I have to do is schedule wind down time to end at 6:29 so bedtime can start at 6:30, however this leaves one very long minute with a sleepy baby in a room that suddenly drops to silence with sound coming back on a minute later. 3) Connecting this to more modern WiFi is infuriating. You have to suspend the 5.0 GHz to only run 2.4 GHz to connect. It’s annoying and even when you do this, it took so many attempts, I almost returned the whole machine. Now I wish I had. I’ve had so much trouble with this, I hate that I wasted the money. I only got it so I’d have a cohesive monitoring system for our nursery, but do yourself a favor and just get the Hatch.

Booooooo
Consistently disconnects and I am not able to turn it on. We have had to reset multiple times on both sound and lights, one for each child we have.

Meh
It's not super user friendly. It could be simpler.

Making nap and bedtime vibey
I like the sound and light machine a lot! I like the selection of sounds and light hues and the controls are easy to use. It was a little annoying to set up when traveling, as you have to connect to WiFi and use the app on your phone. It would be great if you could also just turn it on when you’re on the go and not worry about it connecting.

Do not buy
Will not connect to WiFi, no light works without connecting to the app/wifi. Also you have to download a separate app to use it. If you have to have a separate app I suggest a different product. If you are used to the hatch product this will be disappointing.

Needs work
It blows my mind that this light can essentially only be controlled through the app—and even more so that it requires a separate app from the camera. Why aren’t these integrated? The company’s apps already have frustrating connection issues, and the fact that I have to switch my phone from a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection to 2. 4GHz just to open the app and control the light is a terrible user experience. We received the light for free as part of a bundle, but we won’t be using it. It’s simply not worth the hassle.

Unreliable Connectivity to App
This sound machine stays in the same place on the same wifi; yet sometimes it feels like connecting to the app and sometimes it doesn’t. And when it does connect it’s frequently very slow to load. We have the nanit camera as well and no issues there, I don’t know why the sound + light app is separate and is such a steep drop off in quality.
