Beautiful but chippy
We bought the Lastra collection a few years ago as a wedding gift to ourselves. Vietri has always been a favorite for special occasions but as everyday dishes, very hard to maintain. Cups and bowls easily streak from spoons. The dishes chip very easily and we’ve already replaced several mugs, dinner plates and bowls. Replacement dishes are quite expensive to replace. These get very very hot in the microwave so while they are microwave approved, I would not recommend. I only wash these by hand or via the delicate wash on the dishwasher and I always hand dry because of past chips. They are beautiful but I’ve had a lot of issues with the upkeep. When the time comes to replace (in several years), I will probably look elsewhere for an everyday set.

The Lastra collection is made from Italian Stoneware, which is a combination of different clays including stoneware clay which provides added strength to the product. This collection is made to be highly resistant to chipping. If placed in the dishwasher, we recommend using a non-fragrant, non-citrus, non-abrasive detergent on the air dry cycle. It is recommended to place the dishes so they avoid touching during the high pressure dishwashing and as such, we recommend you do not overload the dishwasher. Handwashing is recommended for oversized items. If utensils are used on ceramics, gray marks may occur on the surface of the eating pieces. These marks can usually be removed by cleaning the item with Bar Keeper's Friend or a soft scrub. The best results occur when done immediately after gray marks are first noticed.
The temperature of handcrafted, natural lay items may vary after microwave use. We recommend allowing items to cool before taking them out of the microwave or using an oven mitt.
