Not Petite

I normally wear a JJill Petite 10 or 12, so I ordered these pants in PL Petite Large. The waist was a bit snug, which I could adjust to, but the pants leg was not made for a short person. What adjustments did they make for Petite sizes? I returned. Why should I pay to cut 6 inches off the legs?
