Smeg/Bloomingdales Do Not Stand Behind the Product

I sent an email to Smeg because my black SMEG toaster that is 18 months old is broken. I asked how to get a repair and included a photo, a Bloomingdales receipt and the serial number. They wrote back simply "Smeg USA small appliances carry only a one-year warranty." SERIOUSLY!? No offer of repair, an apology...nothing.

It’s functional and stylish. And it’s compact enough to be stored and not on the counter top when not in use.
