The pad shrinks
I purchased the mattress pad last year. Have washed this on cold and dried according to directions. It shrinks with each wash. I struggle brutally every time I change the bedding trying to get the final corner onto the mattress. As of today I can no longer get it on. It no longer fits our queen size mattress. I own other pads purchased from Bloomingdales that fit without any issue. This one is made of poor quality materials. I have put it in the Helpsy donation bin. I do not recommend buying this particular pad from Bloomingdales.
Steer Clear
I purchased 4 of these mattress pads earlier this year (2024) in the hopes that Bloomingdales had improved the design following so many buyers who had problems with it shrinking. Well, buyer beware -- they have not solved the issue, and after 2 washings, I was barely able to work the cover over my mattress -- with each wash/dry, it got worse. And, it happened to all 4 that I bought! If you do buy one, be cautious as Bloomies will only refund you if you bring it back (as damaged) within the first 30 days. After that you have spent a lot of $ for something that does not last nearly as long as it should.
Poor quality product
Worthless. Washed first time according to instructions and it shrank and I could barely get it on the mattress. The pad portion did not even cover the mattress top area. Washed it the second time and it shrank so much that it absolutely cannot fit on the mattress. Impossible. Must throw it away. A waste of $165 or whatever it was. Very poor quality -- that should not happen. (Also, the skirt was ripping after only two washes.) I have another Bloomingdales all-cotton mattress pad that I have had for nearly 20 years. It's been washed dozens of times and has never shrunk at all.
Definitely SHRINKS!
Bloomingdale's should have made this mattress pad wider with shrinkage in mind. This pad shrunk at least 6 inches in the width. Oddly, the length shrunk less. The quality is quite good but this queen size will fit a full size mattress after washing/drying but shrinks too much to fit a queen mattress. They should make it large enough instaed of having washing instruction to only wash and dry at cold temps. Bedding like this should be laundered in hot water to kill germs/bacteria/mites, etc.

This is great value - i love that it's all cotton. Didn't have an issue washing it on a gentle cycle.

Excellent quality
Can confirm that Lindsay 11418 is correct: this mattress pad makes you very, very warm while sleeping. I, unfortunately, found it intolerable. It is a shame because it is beautiful, well-made, comfortable to lie on, and fits the mattress well. I was confounded because it is 100% cotton including the fill. It washed well in my front loading washer on gentle, (I always wash before first use) no fabric softener, dried damp in dryer on low then hung dry to minimize any potential shrinkage. Wish it worked for me. Will keep as a spare.
