Broke down in a month Poor Customer Service

I bought this shoe for my son, who is 10 and only wears them on gym days, which is 2 x a week and it has already broken down, has a hole in it, and the string broke. When I tried to speak with customer service to obtain a replacement, they said it is outside the window and won't help. Seems crazy to me that me reporting a sneaker's failure 5 days outside of the return window would not be met with some level of understanding and customer service in the form of a replacement pair. Very disappointing.
