Did not think this was going to find a place in my closet, but with an invitation for a formal event in October I needed something the wear over my purple charmeuse dress - and this was perfect! I somehow remember Eileen Fisher being a larger fit than this was and I definitely feel as though I needed the XL in this, as the shoulder-to-waist was quite short and not super-becoming on my long-waisted 5'8" frame. However, the velvet has a somewhat "crushed" look to it, which means it picks up a lot of nuances in color, and I think this would go well over many shades of purple, as well as black, and especially the matching velvet pants. A little expensive as Eileen Fisher is, but since it was versatile I thought it was a wise purchase.

Lovely but Shortwaisted
I have not worn Eileen Fisher in a while, so perhaps the cut is meant for women 5'5" and under, but if only this jacket had two or three more inches length through the body, I think it would be perfect! It worked better on 5'9" me after I evenly shirred the belt through the casing and left the jacket open, kind of like a swing coat. However, the drape is lovely, fit is TTS and when you add the wide leg matching pants, the effect is kind of "upscale louch". I know it will get a lot of use during the holidays.

Feminine EF piece
So comfy and soft. I own a lot of EF but this piece is a bit more feminine. I got it on sale rack with addt'l 25% off too. Can dress sit up or down.

Machine washable so washed it in my new machine on gentle cycle and one side of string that ties the jacket crawled into the jacket and went out the other side. The insert hole is tiny so no way to fix it without going crazy. For as much money as old Eileen charges for this jacket you think she’d implement craftsmanship to prevent this from occurring.

This drawstring velvet jacket is a pleasure to wear. The fabric moves with you. It’s so comfortable and elegant.

Use a safety pin to string it back thru or type a knot on both sides when washing to prevent that from happening
