A HUGE disapointment

I loved these shoes the day I saw them. I purchased them as a birthday gift for my husband. He loved them as well. The shoe looks GREAT however, when he put the shoe on, the leather buckles on the sides. The leather sticks out on the inside and outside (under the B and Bally). He tried tightening the string but that didn't help. There must be a flaw in the way the shoe is made. This is very disappointing as I love the look.
