I took a chance on this paper towel holder after visiting a friend who had their under-counter mount one. Typically those are terrible, you just need one towel/sheet, go to pull with messy/wet hands and here comes the whole roll…not with the Simple Human version. I don’t have cabinets near our sink but I looked it up and wouldn’t you know they had a free standing option. Our current solution was not ideal - it had a giant suction-cup base strategy and couldn’t fit the ever-growing standard paper towel rolls. This one from Simplehuman looked promising with its adjustable tension arm and weighted base so like I said, have it a chance. Works like an absolute treat! Fits the rolls, is stable with the weighted base and never gives you more sheets than you want. I find it strange that I’m writing all of this about a paper towel holder but I love when simple things work as they should.

Doesn’t work well with store bought paper towels
This holder works great with their paper towels, Not store bought Store bought towels are harder to tear, and the tension arm doesn’t hold for that.

Gets the job done
Ordered after having this on my list for longer than I’d like to admit. Solid construction, no wobbles, and looks good on the countertop. Would have appreciated some tips on how to optimize a one-handed tear, but think I’ve figured a way that works for me.
