Great ice. Not very friendly.
We love the ice and really can't live without it. Unfortunately, it's a really complicated relationship with the machine. This is our second one in three years because the previous one began to conk out. Did everything I could to save it, but it just wouldn't cooperate. For the new one, it was a great first couple of weeks but then the scale inhibiting filter disrupted the water flow, causing the machine to constantly say that it needed more water when it had plenty. So we had to remove the scale inhibiting filter and just use the screen. The machine causes a lot of headaches but we just love the ice it produces.

This can be done by unplugging the power cord for 2-3 minutes, then plugging back in. We do recommend performing this with the filter installed.

Squeeking always comes back after cleaning
We have had this icemaker for eight months, and I bought the products to clean it whenever it tells me to clean. Right after I cleaned it, it goes back to its squeaking sound. I have tried everything to get rid of the sound, but nothing has worked. I am very displeased with how much time I have put into trying to get it working again.

Metal dust
I received this ice maker from a dear friend that passed away soon after in a car accident. Within a month of using it it began making an awful screeching and grinding noise. I would unplug it and reset the unit at which time it would make one bucket of ice before the screeching would resume again. This has gotten to the point that there seems to be metal dust in the water bin causing me to no longer use the unit . For the money that was spent I would expect much better quality than this

NO. NOT WORTH THE MONEY
I was so happy to get my FIRST! Machine. It worked a while and I loved it. When it stopped no one could fix it. So I ordered another one! I knew it was going to be okay. But it lasted less time than the first one. I tried everything they recommended and finally had to give up hope. It still sits in my kitchen. I have a lot of money invested in 2 machines. I finally found another brand that is working great! Sorry about bad news. I so wanted to have the Opal. So I am sorry to say it is a waste of money.
