Great coat! Sizing is weird

I've been wanting a long teddy coat for a while and finally pulled the trigger with the Gertrude. It's soft, stylish, and overall I'm a BIG fan. I'm a curvy athletic hourglass build (5' 5" and about 190lbs) and usually wear a L, sometimes an XL to accommodate chest or thighs. I ordered my usual L in this coat and was absolutely swimming in it--loved the style but the shape was oh-so-unflattering. I ordered a M it is much more flattering--definitely the size I'll be keeping. What I really need is a size between the M and L--it's almost absurd the difference in the amount of fabric between the two sizes. Although both run large, it's like they get exponentially larger with each size up. I recommend sizing down or trying on in person if you have the option. At 5'5", I will also note that the coat appears much longer on me than it does on the models. I wanted it longer, so that's fine with me, but be aware. There's probably 5-6" between top of sneakers/ankles and the bottom of the coat.

New Favorite Coat

Love this coat! I’ve already worn it several times since buying it a few days ago. It’s great for a chilly day, but not a frigid one. It’s lightweight and true to size. I’m 5’11” and weigh 138. I bought medium and it fits well, even with a sweater under it.

Oh my gosh. I’ve been wanting a long teddy coat for a while. I was hesitant because of the price. BUY IT. So soft, comfortable, warm and CUTE!! Size down because it runs big. I’m normally a large, got a medium and fits perfect. Can still wear sweaters and sweatshirts with room.
