Having tried virtually every eyeshadow base on the market over the past two decades, I have finally found my holy grail: Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials in Bare. So many other formulas have been too runny, too stark white, too drying, or simply difficult to work with. This one is incredibly user-friendly and forgiving. You can build it in light layers, blend it easily, and even apply a little over eyeshadow if you make a mistake and need to correct or soften an area without removing all of your eye makeup and starting over. Applied first, it creates a beautifully adhesive, smooth canvas for shadow, but I also love wearing it completely on its own. I have heavier lids, and Bare instantly brightens my entire eye area while neutralizing discoloration, redness, and unevenness without looking thick or cakey. It is genuinely the only eye base I have ever loved enough to wear by itself. After twenty years of searching, this is the one.
