Gorgeous Dress Coat

The purple version of this coat is so subtly colored that, when I first opened the package after getting home from work late one night, I was convinced that Bloomingdale's had sent me the black version of the coat. But when I looked at it the next day, I could see that it was actually what I ordered -- a beautiful shade of deep, dark purple. I like the fact that the lapels can be scrunched up around your neck and actually stay that way for a while without going flat. There's also a nice flair at the hip and a sweet little flounce in the back. The coat seems to run small, though. I normally wear a size 2, but ordered both the 2 and the 4 because it looked like it might be tight at the waist. I'm glad I did because forward movement of my arms felt a little constained in the size 2. The larger size also gave it a less tailored, slighly more slouchy look perfect for wearing with boyfriend jeans. Note that the belt ties are sewn into the coat, but if you want to leave them untied, they look fine just dangling there.
