Happy with purchase, comfortable mattress

It's overwhelming buying a mattress online without being able to try it in store first. Based on the positive reviews of this mattress, I took a chance on it and am very happy with the purchase. The mattress is comfortable. No more achy backs from our old mattress. Delivery was excellent.

Asteria bed

Not what I was expecting after reading so many reviews. Mattress is not as plush as I thought but provides decent support. Not at the level of a Kluft.

Trusted Wirecutter's suggestion and glad I did!

I came across this mattress via Wirecutter as it was their upgrade pick. It was quite terrifying to buy a mattress online without testing it, but I'm glad I did. I'm normally a side sleeper but have had to sleep on my back for health reasons since the mattress arrived two weeks ago. My partner is a side sleeper. We're both so happy with the mattress, which we bought as a California King size. The site says level 3-4 in plushness, and though I'm not familiar with the mattress scale system, I would assume 3-4/10 is suuuuper soft, which this isn't so in this case. You don't sink in when you're on your side but it is truly soft while providing support. No soreness after sleeping on your side. For the last 10 years, I had a firm mattress with a memory foam topper and I don't plan to buy a new topper. That's how plush this is. The materials used are luxurious and you can tell the mattress is well made. A heads-up re: delivery, you will receive an email confirmation upon purchase and then a second email with your assigned delivery date, which was about three weeks out for me. I heard nothing from Bloomingdale's until about 72 hours before the date, then got regular calls/VMs with updates. Delivery was on time and the staff was polite and efficient.

Liking the Asteria Beth

During Omicron, I did not think that lying on store mattresses was wise, so I relied on the NYT mattress reviews for side sleepers, which rates the Asteria Beth very highly. At first, I was surprised by the firmness of the Talalay latex, which has a very different feel from foam. After adjusting expectations (and-disclosure-one night's sleep so far) it seems perfect. This is a better choice than similar options for someone who is a side/back sleeper who wants to stay atop the mattress, not encased in it.
