    Rain water in eucalyptus groves off Highway 1. Young green shoots, long spears, russet underbrush.

    "For breathtaking American vistas, I think Big Sur hovers somewhere at the top of the list. The river running down through the mountains hits the fog covered sea. Sunsets over the pacific are next level. You can feel the magnetic pull of Asia on the other side of the vast water.

    As you drive down highway 1--top down, motorway music, the winds whipping--your car bends around each corner discovering a new jaw dropping bridge, private beach, or sonorous mountain. Poets and mystics populate the magic place. And the flora of the California coast is extremely varied. By Big Sur, you have a wonderful micro climate from the heat and the fog.

    Redwoods and other conifers hide groves off the side of the road. Eucalyptus abounds.

    But it doesn't yet smell medicinal like when you encounter the oil in a sauna. It is still thick with green shoots saturated with perfumed freshness. Long spears of the Eucalyptus dart out from the branch, eventually falling to the floor creating a dry russet underbrush.

    When it rains, the scent of eucalyptus combines with fog to make an almost natural medicine lodge. Through the cracks in the trees you can see the sweeping waves."

Beautiful clean fragrance

This is a gorgeous long lasting candle (in terms of burn time). The scent is very fresh and oceanic with some woody undertones, to me. I like that it lasts a long time for burn time, but I wish the candle had better scent throw. You can only really detect the smell if you’re sitting right next to it, which for the price, is quite disappointing. Having said that, it is a very pretty candle in terms of packaging!

Love it

Received this for my birthday after much pining, and I love it as much as I expected. A very calm, fresh and unique profile - I've not smelled anything like this elsewhere or since. Great throw, even when not lit, and beautiful and premium packaging field too.

I recently discovered this brand and love the packaging and candle names. Big Sur After Rain is a very unique and beautiful scent. It is floral, herby and fresh, but it is not at all powdery. Scent fills the room even when not burning. New favourite candle

Beautiful smell

This is really nice candle and very expensive looking with lovely scent, but for me it is little bit too heavy of a scent. It really depends on personal preferences as Durga creates just beautiful candles, but if you want something more subtle, probably go for different scent.

Nice but

I really like a lot of the candles from DS and Durga. The branding is really simple but cool and look so stylish in any environment... and the ideas behind the fragrances are so original. However, this one isn't my favourite. Just something about the smell doesn't win me over. Reminds me of a car air freshener a little. However the cold throw of this is fantastic. It burns really cleanly too with no tunnelling.. I have noticed that when first lighting it, it doesn't smell as strong as expected but the longer it burns, down the candle, the fragrance seems to get stronger which was a nice surprise as I hate when candles lose their potency after they've been burned past the fragrance layer! These aren't the cheapest but you're really getting something different which makes it worth the extra money in my opinion.

Evocative

This is one of those candles that I buy again and again. The scent is evocative of memorable road trips through California and all of the natural scents you'd expect. I like that it is neither masculine nor feminine and is a really good signature scent for the home.

Amazing

I really do love this scent - im kind of obsessed - i know some people are saying the candle is expensive but any high quality candle is and the scent on this really lingers so it is well worth it, It really is a gorgous fresh smell and everyone always comments on it

Gorgeous scent

A really beautiful but not overpowering scent. Just like the rest of their fragrances I have tried, it was something unique and unlike a lot of typical candle scents, which I really enjoy! I light it while working and it helps me focus without being at all distracting.
