Beautiful but...

This trench is absolutely beautiful. It drapes perfectly where many trenches often look wrinkly or stiff. It also IS water resistant, although I am not yet sure how much so it is. It does not actually say and nobody at the store could tell me, so I took the chance and bought it. I tried it out under the sink and it completely repelled the water. Hopefully it withstands actual rain to some degree. Now for the negatives. It kind of has a weird smell. I wore the coat out once and noticed the next day that it had a very bizarre smell. I'm not sure if that's from wherever I wore it or from it being new. Maybe it just absorbs smells easily? I am taking it to get dry cleaning anyways so hopefully this goes away. Which leads me to the next negative... it weirdly absorbs stains. Again though, this could be my fault. I wore my black leather Kate Spade purse on my arm the day I wore this coat to work and at the end of the day noticed that the purse had left all these black marks all over the coat where it had rested on my arm. This was just completely bizarre to me as I have had the purse for years and never experienced this problem. I think the marks will come out with the dry cleaning, but hopefully it does not happen again.
