I bought this Coffee pot in December 2011 and within 2 weeks the grinder didn't work anymore. The coffee is definately not very hot even when fresh made. My husband thinks the coffee tastes terrible and wants me to buy another coffee pot. I am upset that I paid so much for this product thinking it was going to be great! I am purchasing a Krup today.

Fabulous!!!!
Our first Capresso was a refurbished machine because we were not sure it was worth the $$$. After 3 glorious years, our house got struck by lightning and shorted out the machine prompting us to buy this brand new version. This one is even better! Grinder is quieter, coffee is hotter and tastes delicious. I did see where the front gets a good amount of steam but I am not worried at all. Capresso has excellent customer service as well. We will send our old machine to Capresso for repair as a backup. Go ahead, splurge, it's totally worth it!

NOT worth the cost
For what I consider a 'Cadillac' model of coffee makers, this one is very disappointing. The Error code came up the first time it was used. Nowhere in the directions does it have an explanation of what the code means or how to fix the problem. After taking it apart and cleaning every nook and cranny we tried again. It worked 2 times out of the 10 attempts. This went straight back to the store. We are going to just replace the part on our 8 year old Melitta Grind and Brew. Loved the Burr grinder on this, but if it isn't going to work, ever, not worth the hassle.

Worst Coffee Maker Ever!
Our old capresso coffee maker with grinder was great. Sure the electronics always gave us a hard time but the coffee it produced was delicious! When it finally died we decided to get the new Capresso 465 - horrible coffee! Not only are the electronics bad, it makes lukewarm coffee. We returned the first one because of problems with the electronics and the second one is worse. Both make the lukewarm coffee. I actually have to microwave the coffee before I can drink it! What is even more ridiculous is that it has a warming plate even though it has a stainless steel thermal carafe - why? The warming plate does nothing but waste electricity. Also, the grinding mechanism is flawed. No matter how many cups we set the grinder for, it grinds more than 10 cups worth. Sometimes it grinds so much beans that the coffee overflows from the filter and makes a big mess! I am so very disappointed. I miss my old capresso!

Best cup of coffee I ever had...EVERY morning!
I bought this machine because my last Capresso machine (421 I think) lasted 12 years without a problem. Almost zero maintenence, I never cleaned the burr grinder in all that time--it never needed it, and was a sealed unit anyway. Back then, you swung the basket over to a grinder position, it ground and then swung back to the drip position over the glass carafe. So, the first place I went when it finally died was to look for another one. This one caught my eye because it already had a stainless steel thermal carafe that it brewed into--thus saving me the daily step of transferring my freshly brewed coffee to my Nissan thermos to prevent over-cooking. After I read all the reviews for this new machine (465), I admit I was worried about some reports of the electronics malfunctioning--But in the end, my faith in the company which made my first "tried and true" machine was enough to get me to try it. I am so glad I did!! This machine is even better than the "old" one. No swinging basket to worry about breaking and it really delivers on flavor and ease. After all, as much as a geek as I can be, this is all about enjoying a delicious cup of coffee--not playing with the machine every day! Daily cleanup consists of: Empty basket of grounds--Rinse filter--Put back in machine--Enjoy coffee. For those of you who might have had the older model such as myself, let me just say the controls are EXACTLY the same. Just in a fancier brushed steel face-plate. The basket swings out effortlessly and silently at the push of a button on the right side. The basket has a gold filter so that none of the oils or aromatics of the bean get absorbed by a filter paper. The gold filter has changed from a Melita-style, to a Mr. Coffee style basket. As a geek, I can see what might have caused some of the reports of "problems with the electronics"--With the old machine the electronics were housed in a small module under the place where the basket swung over to grind, so that when the basket swung back, the brewing was all done far away from that unit. On the 465, the brewing and the basket are directly under the face-plate housing the electronics. And even though this machine has a steam-vent on the top (next to the water input), I have notice a bit of steam coming through that seam on the front where the basket swings out for cleaning--and it does on occasion steam up the clock and buttons from the outside. I only hope that area has been sealed really good because I LOVE THIS MACHINE!!! Anyway so far so good (and I mean REALLY good). Even though this machine only has a 1 year warranty, I trust Macy's not to let me get screwed if something goes wrong down the road. When I ordered it online, the invoice said it would ship in about 10 days--which miffed me a bit since I live in NYC, but I ordered it on Sat., and received it on Tues.!! So don't believe that estimate. One last thing, that clock is the brightest clock I have ever seen. I don't even need to turn on the kitchen light anymore if I'm going in there to get something quick. The coffee this machine makes just out of the box is worth these minor issues IMHO. I have never written a review before, but I felt so strong about how good this machine is that I just wanted to give a prospective buyer a bit more info than I had at time of purchase. Only time will tell how this machine holds up next to its predecessor, but right now as I write this, I'm sipping a delicious cup of coffee and life is GOOD!

BROKE DOWN TWICE !!!
This coffee maker is aesthetically nice and produced good-tasting coffee. However, it malfunctioned twice. The first coffee maker, I received broke down within 2-weeks of use and thus, exchanged. The replacement coffee maker, straight from the box, already showed signs of malfunction and was returned within a week's time. Two, breakdowns were enough for me, I switched to another brand.

Great coffee maker with one design issue/flaw
What they say is true. The Jura Capresso is a cut above the rest. The design, operations and manual for the product is very well thought out. This is why I am surprised to see the design issue with the stainless thermal carafe. It does its intended function, but the black plastic molding in the top of the carafe will not allow you to empty the pot entirely, even if you turn it upside down. If you can tolerate the glass unit, it probably does not have this issue.

LOOOOOOOOOOVE this coffee maker!!!
It is worth every penny!!!! I had 2 versions of another brands grind and brew coffee maker and they were a pain to clean after each use (you had to take apart the bean grinder and clean it after EACH use along with everything else). The capresso is super easy and fast to clean like a normal non grind coffee maker, brews an amazing pot of coffee, and the temp is SUPER HOT! I forgot to pour out the leftover coffee, came home several hours later and the coffee was still drinkable hot! The different grind and aroma settings are great, and easy to use. It's also nice to see the cute smiley face on the display screen letting you know the filter is still in good condition. I'm NOT a morning person and the little smiley face is a cute touch! :)
