loved it. sampled it. bought it. now its awful.

i visited a bloomingdales just to sample a ton of perfumes that have been on my radar. when i first tested it on a strip, it was wayyyyy better than i expected! so good that i chose this scent after testing 50+ to wear out of the store. i hate that some of these perfumes stands refuse to provide samples. i wore it all day and loved it so i bought a small bottle (its pricey as is). i'm finally testing it out and now its super peppery????? i know there are aldehydes, incense, cashmere wood, and salted amber but i have no idea where this strong sharpness is from. its literally so strong that it overpowers all the other notes. the strength of this peppery smell is like glossier you. i'm so bummed!!! i really hope they let me exchange it in store :(

I recently tried a tester of Alto Astral and while I usually adore Byredo’s creations, this one leaned a bit too tropical for my taste. It opened with a strong mango-like sweetness that felt fun and summery — great for a holiday vibe — but not something I’d reach for day-to-day. It didn’t quite settle well on my skin, and I found myself missing the elegance of their floral classics. I’ll definitely stick to their original range going forward, as the newer launches haven’t resonated with me in the same way. Still, glad I got to try it!

Received as a free sample. I would rate an 8/10. Smells tropical, warm and inviting but it also smells a little manly with hints of metal, so don't know if I, as a girl, would regularly wear it.

Love Byredo - this one was too tropical for me

Received a tester of alto astral recently, the scent came off very sweet to me, like mango. I enjoyed using the tester on holiday but I don’t see it becoming a staple, perhaps just not for my skin. Will stick to their floral range in future - their newer scents haven’t grabbed me I prefer the classics.

Disappointing

I received a sample of this which I was keen to try due to Byredo's reputation. However it didn't work well with my skin chemistry and to my nose smelt rather sour and unpleasant. I couldn't detect the coconut element at all which was disappointing as it's a favourite note of mine. I'd definitely recommend testing before blind buying.
