Tester

I recently tried a tester of Alto Astral and while I usually adore Byredo’s creations, this one leaned a bit too tropical for my taste. It opened with a strong mango-like sweetness that felt fun and summery — great for a holiday vibe — but not something I’d reach for day-to-day. It didn’t quite settle well on my skin, and I found myself missing the elegance of their floral classics. I’ll definitely stick to their original range going forward, as the newer launches haven’t resonated with me in the same way. Still, glad I got to try it!

Solid perfume

Received as a free sample. I would rate an 8/10. Smells tropical, warm and inviting but it also smells a little manly with hints of metal, so don't know if I, as a girl, would regularly wear it.

Love Byredo - this one was too tropical for me

Received a tester of alto astral recently, the scent came off very sweet to me, like mango. I enjoyed using the tester on holiday but I don’t see it becoming a staple, perhaps just not for my skin. Will stick to their floral range in future - their newer scents haven’t grabbed me I prefer the classics.

Disappointing

I received a sample of this which I was keen to try due to Byredo's reputation. However it didn't work well with my skin chemistry and to my nose smelt rather sour and unpleasant. I couldn't detect the coconut element at all which was disappointing as it's a favourite note of mine. I'd definitely recommend testing before blind buying.

Like But Don't Love

I have mixed feelings about Alto Astral a sample of which I received with a recent order. On initial contact with the skin the Coconut Water is quite strong which I quite like as I am fond of the scent and find it soothing but then one gets a blast of a metallic scent (presumably the aldehydes) which I don't like as sharp and synthetic. Once the fragrance has settled on the skin though the incense and amber come through and there is a pleasant woody aura to it. Longevity is quite good. Overall OK but doesn't make me want to rush out and buy.

Autumnal Scent

I recently received a good size sample of this with my recent order. This fragrance really surprised me, initially I got strong coconut vibes but it settles down to the most unique woody smell that lingered for the whole day. Definitely different to my usual perfumes but I really like it.
