Setting Sprays & Powders

Setting sprays and setting powders can both help keep your makeup looking flawless for longer, but they each have unique beauty benefits—and how and when to use them differs. 

Setting sprays are designed to help keep products from slipping, sliding, and fading quickly. Typically water-based, they can not only help blend your makeup into your skin for a smoother look, but because they're available in glowy and mattifying finishes, sprays have the power to change your look entirely. (Pro tip: To get even more from your makeup setting mist, look for formulas that include skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.)  

Whereas setting sprays are the perfect finishing touch to your full makeup application, setting powders are usually applied after cream and liquid products (think concealer, foundation, etc.) to help set them into place and give your skin a velvety finish. As an added bonus, setting powders can help mattify skin if you're prone to shine—and when applied onto smile lines and the under-eye area, they can help prevent your makeup from creasing.
